Carter Wellborn is the brother-in-law of the great folk artist, Annie Wellborn.  Annie shares her home with Carter in rural Georgia, where they spent their days tending the farm and creating their art.  Carter is truly an Outsider.  His art is simple, colorful and unpretentious.   He makes his art for the pure joy of creating.  Cows, horses, clocks, airplanes and human figures adorn the wood and paper that Carter creates on.  Often his figures are lined up in rows or columns like a visual calendar marking the passage of time on the farm.  Most of his art is created with permanent marker and sometimes pen and pencil. Carter’s childlike spirit contributes in making his art accessible, uplifting and a wonderful addition to any folk art collection.
